Henry "Hank" Baier, associate vice president for facilities and operations at the University of Michigan, is responsible for facilities management of approximately 34 million square feet of space. Departments reporting to Mr. Baier include: Architecture, Engineering, and Construction, including the University Real Estate Office; the Office of Campus Sustainability; Occupational Safety and Environmental Health; Parking and Transportation Services; and Plant Operations, including Facilities Maintenance, Grounds and Waste Management, and Utilities. As the chair of the university's Finance and Capital Projects Committee, he oversees more than $1 billion of construction and renovation projects in planning and design.
Prior to coming to U-M, he managed a consulting company providing services to several Fortune 100 firms. In addition, he has worked at a nuclear fusion research laboratory, the State of Michigan, and McDonnell Douglas Corporation (Boeing).
Mr. Baier holds a master of science degree in industrial health from the University of Michigan and a bachelor of science degree in environmental health from Ferris State University.
